Engine temp warning notification

Featured Replies

Dear Team,

I'm from Chennai India, yesterday I was traveling to my native from Chennai to Madurai around 480km distance, suddenly after running 250km temperature warning notification displayed on my dashboard, I stopped the car checked coolant level, fuses, engine oil, radiator fan, everything ok, but radiator fan not running at 90' only running after hitting temp warning, slightly reducing from 180 to 150, 120 like that again running fast increasing temp, I don't know what to do, then slowly reached my native, and suggested with mechanics, he said have to check coolant supply, and after cleaning radiator coolant pipes serviced well again same problem, then mechanic said have to check engine head, the coolant circulation not well in inside of the engine, have to service engine head, gasket,etc... costing 500$ Indian rupees 30000

Pls suggest if that anything alternative...

Possibly thermostat. What engine code is in your car or else year, fuel type capacity, non turbo or Tsi....

Octavia 2007, Diesel, turbo engine,

And thanks for ur reply...

Finally found the problem, there was coolant water pump replaced...

Looks like that's a MkI, not the MkII.

Whilst the cambelt is off to replace the water pump then you may as well renew that too, as that's where the bulk of the labour costs are.
