New/used car deals as a result of covid?

Featured Replies

I'm going to be needing a bigger car soon as my wife and I have a third baby coming and I'm trying to decide if there may be some good deals about as a result of the lockdown and economic slowdown.  Crystal ball gazing, as no one knows how long this will be restricting normal life but what do people think?  Maybe some good deals on new in the next few months but drying up as production stops?  Maybe some good deals on 2-3 year old cars coming to the end of PCP deals over the next 3 to 12 months?  If things go on longer then maybe a continued ability to squeeze a deal/dealers working harder, but with less stock once factory closures impact the stunning deals dry up? ( If there are any stunning deals that is).

Probably looking at a pug 5008 or if I saw something truly amazing deal wise, an Audi Q7 or land rover Discovery..... Welcome to my world of 7 seater blandness and desperately seeking to avoid an s-max/MPV.

My guess is as new stocks dry up the used market will get more demanding from a consumer point of view so used prices will increase for 1-3 year old cars. This will be for younger or older depending on how long the shtishow will last.

So:

If you want something I'd do it now if you can afford it.

Personally, if you see something that floats yer boat and ticks all the boxes, I would just go ahead with the purchase.

I have recently swapped from a Skoda Octavia Scout to a Honda HR-V. At the time of purchase it was the cheapest SE spec (with a falrly low mileage) on Honda's website.  I have just done a quick search via Honda UK and there is still nothing near it at the price we paid.  The dealership we bought from have an identical spec'd and coloured model for sale, the difference is this one is a year younger and with 12k less miles on the clock, and for this they want £2,000 more than what we paid.

When you take into account it came with a years free servicing, £700 of supplied and fitted accessories included in the price, it came in the colour we wanted and they gave us an extremely generous trade in, and it wa a no brainer as far as I was concerned.

Good luck with your search.
