that GLA looks like some pimped out a CX-3... imo.

as for the chintziest grill ive seen in a long time, and the red plastic liner rings on the wheel nut covers...

i stopped watching before i saw the inside.

I watched the whole video and he summed the car up by saying it was too expensive and too thirsty, struggling to hit 30mpg. Sounds like most German premium cars then.

Actually Autogefuhl summed the car up as

  • Very refined
  • Very easy to steer and park
  • Very good interior space
  • One of the best small SUVs
  • More capable than the A class and B class

and although it is too expensive, that is what you have to pay for one of the "tops" in the segment.

Maybe it is like most premium German cars

A premium SUV really should have an electric tailgate as standard (my Superb has) but of course it's optional on the GLA. Perhaps it's cheap to compensate but no the 187bhp 220d 4MATIC ranges from £38,430 to £42,930 in the UK which is even more amazing when you consider that Mercedes sold 19,000 GLA's in the UK in 2019 so common as muck as well. You can save £1,500 by opting for the slower 148bhp diesel though. Finally in the 2020 Driver Power survey from owners actual experiences the worst 5 makes of car to own in the Auto Express survey were as follows with the percentage of faults noted by those owners in brackets.

26th Mini (8%).

27th BMW (20.4%).

28th Mercedes (16.5%).

29th Vauxhall (13.7%).

30th and last the cheapest range of cars sold in the UK Dacia (17.2%).

1st and best make to own Lexus.

5th Skoda.

None of that changes what the reviewer posted on GLA. You clearly hate BMWs, Mercedes  and associated brands, as is apparent from your postings, But I can add that you obviously loved your Superb enough that you felt it needed modification to make it the car you really wanted pretty much as soon as you got it.

I don't hate premium brands I just understand why people pay so much for them. A small garage near me has a nice metallic blue BMW 3 Series for sale (2016 on a 16 plate) at the moment for a very reasonable £9,995. The cheapest new 3 Series (petrol or diesel) retails for £32,500.

Then that's fine. You get what you pay for

Btw I don't know anyone who pays anything like full price for a 'premium' product.

Best Car Review ever of possibly one of the worst dogging SUV's.

Premium brands cost premium money because they are a much nicer place to be.

i have recently went from a 2018 seat leon to a 2014 audi a3, the leon had more up to date tech but the audi is just such a nicer car, nicer to drive (full independant rear suspension unlike the cheapo seat with it’s fixed rear beam) less road noise, better sound system, better quality plastics used, proper carpets that don’t get all sorts stuck in them, the seat had something similar to a felt 🤨.

so you do get what you pay for.

as the owner of a 2003 cordoba before my 2004 mk1 octy

yes. 100% agree. even the change of plastics to the octy was way better than the seat. and carpet was an awful dirt trap

I have noticed in the new Audi A1 they have changed the premium boot carpet which on most audi’s is the same as the interior carpet and it now has the horrible cheap rubbish felt stuff that gets everything stuck in it. So they have cut costs on the new A1 😮

i also had a mk1 leon and a mk1 octavia. Octavia actually had nice carpets albeit in white.

Base Mondeo is £25k , Insignia £23k

Having owned all 3 marques (and not having a problem with any tbh) I think a £7k premium for a 3series is worth the spend.

I dug around lot before buying my BMW and I thought geniunely that a used BMW was offering better value than the majority of other marques, including Skoda.

More than 4 months later that same BMW is still for sale so not very desirable it would seem.

Might be rough, dealer might be an ass who knows.

We've all seen over priced cars for many reasons.

Martyn Raynor Cars, Coalville, Leicestershire. Looks all right to me just over 81,000 miles and VED £30 per year.

To be fair to your Aspmobile, the 335D is an epic car and only recently have any of its competitors produced something similar. When I got my C350CDI i really wanted a 335D but they were too expensive, I then looked at the 330D but it too was significantly more expensive than the deal i could get on the C350. In the end I loved the MB. It was an AMG lite sort of thing. Handled very nicely and was quite lively at the rear if you wanted to be silly :) (obviously I don't mean the full Chris Harris, but rather the things I think he calls 'Squiggles' out of corners)

Today in Scotland is very much a 335d x-drive with good wet weather tyres sort of day.

A colleague just bought a 335D estate the week before the Lock-down started! Loves the car, hates the debt. Probably won't bother taking the M4 out today :D It's definitely more of a Hyundai sort of day here in the 'Wet and Windy' North West. It has a nice graphic that shows power apportioning in regular driving. It seems to put varying amounts of power to the rear wheels in the first 3 gears when pulling away, regardless of how quickly you accelerate.

Weather was biblical here in the Midlands at 6am on the way home. After being up for 22 hours I could have done without the spray overtaking the lorries in the wife's Karoq and slight aquaplaning at 70mph thanks to the 235/40R19 summer tyres.

A car to suit golfers i would think.

The engine is 90 degrees out of alignment too!

2 series 'Mashie Niblick Coupe' has a ring (don't know how to spell mashie/mashey/mashy niblick/kniclick/niblik )

That shape just seems a bit wrong. Maybe the colour isn't helping. Wheels look tiny too.
