Issue with CarPlay while heating seats

Featured Replies

Hi,
im new here and I’ve notice an issue in my car that I can’t find anywhere here on this forum, but maybe you have the same and this is not something that I should worry about. The problem is that when I’m using CarPlay and I want to start heating my seat the app (for example Google Maps) from CarPlay is disappearing while this small overlay of heating is still visible on the screen and when it goes off the app comes back as it was before. I’ve tried the same thing with Amundsen system navigation and it works a little bit different, because when heating overlay comes on the nav is only going a little bit less visible, not disappearing like it does with CarPlay. For better explantation of my problem I made a short vid of this issue:

I have the Amundsen system and the heated seats don't display on my screen.

Ok, maybe this is something worth to say and I've missed in the previous post that my car was made in January so it's MY20. That makes me thing that this heating overlay menu is something new and this might have some issues because of this, but still waiting for someone to confirm that :)

Also the question is do you have heated steering wheel? Because place where I can manage of this feature is only this small overlay men, so maybe this feature comes with heated steering wheel.

No, only the heated seats, it may be the heated steering wheel affects the signal from your phone/ Amundsen. Also mine was made in 2018

i think heated steering wheels gives you this small, overlay menu and this works fine with amundsen apps (like nav, radio etc.) but it crashes CarPlay and other smartlink connections when it appears on screen.

Does it on ours too with Amundsen - just touch the screen when it goes black and it returns.

The heated steering wheel is a bit of an afterthought for Skoda, as such there is no separate button like most other manufacturers have, instead you have to use the heated seats button to operate the heated steering wheel. To acknowledge their operation and in the absence of their own button/LED, the screen inlay is required.

The fact the inlay works correctly with the inbuilt sat nav screen, but not when using a third party sat nav via CarPlay suggests that this is a software issue.

All you can do is feed it back to Skoda via social media in the hope they'll develop a fix for the next software update. The video is really helpful, be sure to share it far and wide for maximum awareness.
