Warranty and lockdown

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been asked but I haven't seen it in a topic.  What happens to the warranty if you can't get the service at the right time, in my case mid May, as the dealers are shut?  Are some dealers still keeping the service department open - I use Marshalls at Harlow, Essex.  I know its not a major issue comparecd to the overall crisis but I'm trying to avoid an issue over the next two years.

Thanks for your help and keep safe.

?

Is the car on Variable Servicing and going to go past 24 months since the last service / Oil & Filter change or the PDI & First Registration?

Likely Manufacturers can not invalidate a Warranty Claim if there was any because 'Servicing Guidelines' or 'RECOMMENDATIONS'were missed during Lock Down.

The T&C's do not even say Service Schedules but 'RECOMMENDATIONS'.

Millions of vehicles in the UK / EU / Europe will be in the same circumstances.

It is on 12 months service but what you say makes sense and I expect/hope you are right  - there is always just a concern with big companies trying to get out of things and a simple statement would be a good reassuring gesture to take one concern away.  Thanks for your help.

No issue then.

Your car left the Factory and arrived at the Dealership on Variable Servicing with Long Life Oil.

The Service Indicator was reset to Fixed because you asked for that or the Dealership decided to so the Manufacturers Recommendation was first Service at 2 Years / 18,000-20,000 miles which ever comes first.

Only the Service Indicator was reset.

Skoda have already addressed this on their main website.

Even if garages were open, the likely hood is they'd be working with reduced staff so there's no way they could hope to maintain routine servicing of everyone's car.

On the contrary, I'm witnessing all sorts of  companies bending over backwards to accommodate people. I'd like to think T&C are being ripped up and replaced by common sense, but the probable reason is if those companies were unable to provide a service then they're likely to find themselves in a legal minefield when life returns to normal.

Thanks Scot5 - I wasn't aware of the notes on the skoda website and had had  an evasive reply from their Twitter account but I think, and hope, you are right.  As you say most big companies are responding really well to the current situation and I see no reason why Skoda should be any different. Thanks to everyone for their reassuring replies and I wish everyone well through this nightmare situation.

If you think of the potential bad publicity of a company screweing someone over by strict adherence to T&C after these unprecedented events, I don't think they would want that.
