Move Selector to "P" Message?

Featured Replies

HI Folks, had a weird error pop up on my dash today. Started my car up as normal in "P" to move back a few yards on my driveway, and as soon as i moved into Reverse the dash came up with a message to "Move selector to "P" position" or words to that effect, accompanied by some loud bleeping. It then did the same when I went back into Drive to move it forward again. The error/bleeping went away when I put the car back in "P" again but any time I moved to another position it started again.

Later this evening when I left for work, all was fine, no errors, no bleeping, just as normal.

Anyone seen this before, or have any idea what may have caused it?

Was the door not quite fully latched?

If the car thinks you are about to exit the vehicle i.e. you open the drivers door, it alerts you to the fact that the car is in either Drive or Reverse, and as such if you do get out there is a good chance the car will roll away without you in it.

You know what I think you may have solved it, dunno why it never even occurred to me lol. I tried it today and sure enough, it acted exactly as before. Thanks for the help :)
