Estate luggage partition

Featured Replies

A couple of questions

Does the estate load cover come with a built in net partition that pulls out when the rear seats are flat that attaches to the ceiling behind the front seats ?

The optional hard metal net partition/dog guard that sits on top of the rear seats in their normal position. Will this fit under the false boot floor when not in use like the parcel shelf does ?

 Thanks

The luggage cover is in one single part. It remains at the same place, whatever the position of the rear seats back rest (normal / folded). The cover can’t be split in 1/3 - 2/3 like the back rest. At least, I´ve never heard about such a possible configuration. 🤔

Thanks.

I'm not fussed about the 60/40 split.

So what you are saying is there is no soft net partition for when both the rear seats are folded flat that attaches to the ceiling behind the front seats ?

To stop anything flying between or over the top of the front seats ?

Oh sorry, you mean the net. I was speaking about the luggage cover that hides the boot content, when you close the hatchback / rear door of estate.

No idea then about the net... sorry. 🙁

The net is an optional extra that you can use with the rear seat back up or down - there are two locations for it in the headlining.

I don't know about the metal dog guard.

Ah that sounds like a better option do you have a link ? Thanks

I have the Walky Dog Guard in my Superb estate and am very pleased with it. It fits securely to the rear of the stainless steel headrests and can be simply adjusted for height and width.  Takes a few minutes to install and 30 seconds to remove. Can be erected to either front or rear headrests. Cost me about £50 a few months back.  Recommended. See video on website or YouTube.

It's in the handbook, but very unclear in the brochure and options list!

That’s brilliant

Thanks very much for this

funny i’ve never seen any ceiling lugs on any youtube video reviews. I guess you must have to spec the net from factory to get them

do you have this net ?

does it go under the false floor when not in use like the parcel shelf does ?

Thanks

I don't have a Superb, but the Octavia ( they're much the same ) and know exactly what you're talking about. All my Volvo's came with the net built in. ( and bloody heavy it made the whole mechanism too ! )

1: As per above - the luggage net is an accessory / optional extra but there are specific storage areas underneath the false floor for both the retractable tonnaeu cover and the luggage net to sit.

2: Do you have a Superb at the moment? The biggest problem with the Superb is the false floor isn't standard. If it's anything like the Octavia, there is no space under the floor ( i.e. next to the spare wheel ) for these covers, they only fit under the false floor. So unless you're going to buy a new one and option it as an extra, you may struggle to find a used Superb with a false floor.

3: The metal dog guard? I don't have the offical Skoda guard but the TravelAll guard. Even if I dismantle all the fixings, there's no way it will fit under the false floor - it's too long ( it's the full width of the interior car remember ). I very much doubt it, but it may fit in to the under floor area of a Superb, but certainly not whilst the load cover is stored.

My Walky dog guard is adjustable both widthwise and height and fits under the Superb false floor.

Thanks very much for this

no i don’t have a Superb but seriously considering one for the future

funny i’ve never seen any ceiling lugs on any youtube video reviews. I guess you must have to spec the roll net from factory to get them

Assuming the world doesn’t end then I think the Superb is due for replacement in 2022 so I might wait till then and try and get a good deal on runout stock

Thanks

I've managed to find a video that you can just about see the luggage net bar in

If you pause this after about 5 secs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ4Pohhkxfs&t=140s

You can see the large dark bar under the load cover and if you are watching on a large screen you can just about make out the 'cow horns' on the net

I can't quite see the ceiling lugs to hold it but they must be there

I'm guessing it wont go under the floor when not in use ? but TBH that is less important than being able to put the load cover under there which is SUCH a useful feature, I don't understand why more OEMs don't do it

@scot5 Yes I've had E-Classes with similar 'all in one' and they are such a pain to move about and not being able to store elsewhere in car when they would otherwise be in the way of the load is such a pain. The Skoda solution looks far superior :)

On the ceiling lugs I wonder f they are a post built dealer fit ? i.e the metal sockets are already in the roof and the dealer just has to put a bradle through the headlining and click the plastic lugs into place ? The net is only £150 so I can't imagine there is a special section for it on the production line

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a superb with the nets.

there are 2 nets that fit along the sides, in effect over the wheels and the third spreads over the floor of the boot, none of them fit along the back seats, although you can sort of put one of the side ones there but it doesnt fix very well.

Best video yet for showing net attached to back seats

about 25 mins in for black ceiling lugs

and before that when rear seats are folded you see the net roll itself

Attached pictures of my car with net in the two different positions.

It doesn't fit under the false floor, not sideways anyway. Easy to attach and deatttache.

Thanks for the excellent photos

it’s a very rare factory option

how have you found the cars reliability generally? What sort of mileage do you do per year ?

 Thanks again

About 40000km a year, a few minor glitches only. Left rear damper (DCC) broke after a few month and was replaced by Skoda, lock for luggage compartment died at about 80000km, also fixed under warranty, had a bad four wheel alignment and went through 2 sets of summer tyres over two years, Skoda failed aligning it correctly twice but another workshop did a good alignment.

Oh, drivers side seat adjustment must have some bad connection, after every interior cleaning it loses its end position memory and must be reseted, not a big thing.

Good to hear you are having a good experience

how is the leather wearing at 100k or whatever you have got to. I wish they did a tan colour instead of that horrible chocolate brown 😁

Also I think I’ve seen it but just to check the load cover still fits over the top of the retracted net when the rear seats are upright?

Leather is ok 120000km, but my car has black seats. I'll post a photo of my driverseat when I'm out on my next trip :)

The cover sits right behind the net and the little flap on the cover fits tightly against the net cassette.

Pic of drivers seat. Not taken care of in any special way at all, microfiber cloth with water for cleaning.

Thanks again. Pretty good. The side bolster on the cloth seats in my golf split at about 160,000kms
