CAR BATTERY REPLACEMENT AGM

Featured Replies

What type model/ratings car battery can i fit into my Skoda Octavia, it is start and stop. Started to crank as now have to jump start the vehicle. Yes I know i can just replace or type my reg onto a website which show me the type, but am sure you can use other battery ratings even a bigger volatage..recommendations please..

Should be an EFB or AGM type battery. You can only replace an AGM battery with an AGM battery but an EFB battery can be replaced with either an EFB or AGM generally. In either case the ECU must be programmed with the relevant details (certainly for an EFB to AGM replacement). As far as I understand it if the battery is the same physical size and type you can replace the old battery with one with greater Amphours and CCA. THe AGM type is generally more powerful, longer lasting and more expensive than an EFB.

pretty sure you're limited on an 096 size anyway, so you wont get one with much more amps than what came from factory. If its EFB then really upgrading to AGM will just cost you more and there wont be much gains to be honest. Just replace with what was in there in the first place.

Also stick with good brands such as Yuasa, Varta etc, it'll pay in the long run

That's assuming OPs O3 is already fitted with an 096 size battery, which not all engine options were - my 1.4TSI certainly doesn't have an 096 (but will have when the OE battery gives up the ghost).

Very true PD.

To original poster. We need some more specific details as to what battery you have already in the car to assist you further.

Thanks guys , will replace similar battery fitted a AGM.

Yes - have a look in the thread about VCDS owners - who can help you to change over the battery....usually for beer money.

Ive just fitted a Halfords 096 size (Biggest that would fit) AGM battery to my 2016 vRS from a 096 size EFB battery. I had to borrow a Launch v431 scanner to code the battery, but this was very easy to do. After fitting a few errors occurred, but these cleared after driving a few metres.

I got it for £127.20 with trade discount and Halfords will replace straight away if a fault is found with the battery as long as a receipt is given to prove purchase date. Them being local makes it quick and easy to swap if a fault ever develops. I also believe their batteries are made Yuasa which is a good brand.

The EFB battery was 69Ah and 680A EN/SAE/GS with the Halfords one being 70Ah and 760CCA. Most 096 batteries are exactly the same spec as the Halfords one and come with a 5 year warranty, so its literally down to which brand you prefer.

Hope this helps.
