Deadlocked/non opening doors

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Had an issue recently with my MK1 fabia's central locking using the keyfob not working, and the passengers side not opening at all. Bought a new locking mechanism for the drivers side, which worked fine. However, after putting the door card back on on the drivers side, and closing the door, the door doesn't want to open anymore, at all. It unlocks fine, but you can't open it, so now both the passengers side front and drivers side front are completely deadlocked and unopenable. I've seen a few people have the same issue, where they resolved it by pressing the button on the keyfob and hitting the door near the lock to get it to open, but no dice.

Anyone else had this issue? It would be easy to resolve if i could open the doors and get the doorcards off, but i can't, so it seems the only way it to hack the door cards to bits from the inside, resolve the issue, and then replace the doorcards, which i dont really want to do.

Thanks in advance.

Try adjusting the little wire bit that comes out to the handle, as I've fixed this situation before with a minor tweak of position on the 'ladder'.

If that doesn't work it may also be worth a look at this:

I'm struggling to understand why you replaced the drivers side lock module when it was the passenger side that wasn't working?

Didn’t explain myself very well - drivers side didn’t lock with the key fob but the rest did, so needed to replace that, but in between that happening and now, the passengers side dead locked which I assumed was the same issue, but it wasn’t - so both of the locking modules got replaced today, but now both doors are deadlocked
