Vibration at 2000rpm

Featured Replies

First the background info; 1.6 TDI 2010, 61000 miles, broke down on the motorway, recovered to my usual garage who, as I expected, diagnosed injector failure on cylinder 2 and the injector on cylinder 3 being out of spec. he pulled all the injectors and they went off for test and after some discussion we decided to have all 4 cleaned and refurbed as required.

after replacement I found a vibration occuring at about 2000 rpm in 5th that starts as a sort of resonance and builds up. Inital thoughts were wheel balance although it's the whole car rather than the classic steering wheel feel. the problem is that I can duplicate the vibrations in 4th at the same rev range.

Rang the garage who said "probably wheel balance, drop it round we'll have a look" which I did and explained that it's rev related rather than just speed with wheel balance. After driving it he's agrred with me, scanned it and found no codes so it's booked to go back in, have the injectors removed and sent back for a retest.

Anyone got any ideas or experience that points to anything else? Obviously I'm rather concerned with the financial implications of this as the bill so far has been rather steep!

I really hope you are correct, but do you think it's the most probable cause as all 4 injectors were tested and repaired/replaced as required?
