DSG clutch squeal .. ?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I just bought a mk3 octavia (2016) 1.4lt / 7 speed DSG with 90k on the clock. To my dismay I've noticed what sounds like clutch slippage.. a squeal.. that only ( at this stage) happens occasionally when the DSG changes into 4th gear. It only seems to happen when going around a sweeping slightly uphill corner, or up accelerating up a hill when the transmission is loaded up. The vehicle has always been Skoda serviced.. would this be a clutch pack problem or is the DSG just doing a slow shift into 4th?

If you have just purchased the car take it back to the garage you purchased it from. It will be within your warranty and dont be shrugged off if they say they dont cover clutches. The car should be fit for purpose for 6 months from the purchase date under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 so by law they will have to fix it.

In Australia?

Cant see any sigs from my phone so dont know where the op is from.

There is a Recall in Australia started in late 2019 on DQ200 DSGs up to 2016.

This follows from the World Wide Recall in 2012, then further issues which required a Service Campaign on some DQ200's 2013-2015. '34H5'. Software Update.

Australia should have been involved in that.

So now an Australian owners of cars with a DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG should check if their vehicle is part of the RECALL.

That means cars should be RECALLED, not like European / UK Secret Service, shsssss dont tell everyone seervice campaigns.

Octavia built to 2015.

But check on that, when the DQ200 was built, and the car built, and actually could 2016 Euro 6 vehicles be included because Skoda / VW are not always correct, or the VW Media / Press releases.

*** As well as this there is another issue, the slipping clutch one as reported in the Fabia Mk3 Section, but this involves various models and there are TPI's.***

Great info.. thanks so much.. Rootetc.. that might explain why I've had a couple of "power outages".

Motor cut out twice now while slowing down for a stop light. The first time the run stop restarted the motor

by itself.. the second time I had to do it manually.

Curious as to what the big difference is in technical specifications for my 2012 fabia and the 2013 one in regards to DSG. I'm just thinking if it was not part of the recent and past recalls, is there a way I could get a third party garage to apply the same updates if it's compatible?
