Weird screeching noise 1.8t rs

Featured Replies

Hello everyone! As I am not very knowledgeable about cars, I can't find the issue on my own and I've tried googling for months now and can't find an answer. My car makes a weird screeching like sound whenever I accelerate hard with it. When driving normally and fairly slow while still getting to hear the turbo spool up, the noise can't be heard. But as soon as I go full throttle it starts screeching again as the revs go up.

I have been driving like this for about 9 months I think, and I can't say I have noticed any power loss, or the car running bad in any way. But I now want to tune the car, but without something breaking after a week. That's why I am tired of the noise and I really want to fix it now. I would also say it has probably gotten louder over the time, but not a whole lot louder and it has been subtle with the changes and nothing I've noticed over a day or something.

I am sick and tired of this noise and I think it's about time to fix it now! So I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestion you guys might give me. If theres no luck on here, I will probably take it to a mechanic but being unemployed atm leaves me with not a whole lot of budget for this kind of stuff. Thanks in advance Briskoda people! 😃

Heres a video of the noise, posted by me.

Sounds like a boost leak, diverter valve? I would check all the rubber hoses for any cracks, tears, holes.

Yeah, I dont think its the diverter valve tho as it previously had a blow off valve from previous owner, then I replaced it with an aftermarket recirculating one. The sound above mentioned started appearing after a month or so, so I switched back to the stock one. Still made the screeching sound. Eventually I switched back again to the aftermarket recirculating one since it sounded better with my cone filter. I tried checking the rubber hoses but will check more later! Thanks for the reply 😃
