Fix is now available, Dealer will have part numbers and all relevant info on Desktop technical site.

could you please describe "mooing brakes" please????

My brakes seem to make a strange noise sometimes and if you could describe your problem it may help me out

I spoke to Skoda on Friday as I'm waiting for this fix and they said that the proposed fix had failed to get type approval, too much asbestos in new pads apparently. They are back to the drawing board on this they said and could offer no timescale for amended fix. I was disappointed to say the least.

The part number for the mooing fix, is 6X0 698 998.

All details on Skoda Desktop technical page.

There is no exchange of brake pads that I am aware of only two pivot points which have been redesigned with new large rubber bushes to damp the harmonic which leads to the mooing noise.

Hi

My dealership know nothing about the fix - is there a technical bulletin I can point them to or will the part numbers do?

Thanks

Richard

Is the mooing problem the awful deep groaning that occurs when in reverse and using the brakes (eg parking)

If so then this may be the problem with my brakes - the skoda dealer just claimed it was a feature...

Called skoda customer services - apparently the problem has been reported to factory and they have cofirmed there is no safety problem. A fix will be delivered but is not ready yet.

The guy groaned when i described it - i guess he's getting a lot of calls about it.

there is a new bracket for the handbrake cables with a rubber damper on them to stop the noise. it is known to skoda as a mooing noise aswell !!
