skoda octavia 2011 cruise control not working

Hi all I was just hoping someone may be able to help,i bought a 2011 Octavia second hand knowing the cruise control didn't work I took it to skoda and they said there is an open circuit in the cruise switch I got a stalk from the wreckers with compatible part numbers and I got a clock spring incase that needed to be replaced though the clock spring on the Octavia is 5k0.953.569.AL and the one from the wreckers is  5k0.953.569.B are they compatible and has anyone had this issue before with their car iv cleaned the contacts as seen in other posts though no bingo
