Blower fan issue

Featured Replies

Hello to all I hope everyone is doing ok at the moment. Yesterday I had my aircon on full as it was very hot. The aircon is blowing really cold due to having a new condenser fitted a couple of years ago. Then all of a sudden the air stopped coming through the vents. Couldn't tell if the radiator fans were still working as I was driving. I thought maybe it had blew a fuse for the blower fan. The green lights for the fan speed were all still on, the temperature was showing in the two displays and the stereo. However, after about 5 minutes the blower came back on with cold air blowing in. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before and wether or not it's a sign something is failing. Or did it stop because of the heat or something. I've not checked it today.

HI

I had this issue with my Scout and it was a fan motor getting clogged up with dust.  The fan came on intermittently then would stop and not come on again.  I gave it an air blow to the motor and a squirt of WD40 and it has worked pretty well ever since.  Hope that helps.

The blower motor will shut down if it overheats. Will restart again automatically when it has cooled down.

Could be a sign of lack of lubrication of its bearing but more likely it is clogged or the passenger air filter is clogged. When was the filter changed last?

Easy to drop the filter down to inspect it..
