Cam on 2007 2.0 Turbo Diesel

Featured Replies

Our Octavia Scout Diesel has done just over 150,000. We haven't used it for 9 months as have another car.

It has a misfire when under load. It's not dramatic but you can sense it when cruising on motorways.

It's been diagnosed as a slightly worn cam. They quote silly money for repair.

The cost would out way its value. I don't want to scrap it as the car is otherwise in great nick.

Historically every time something needed repairing or replacing it was done.

It shouldn't be dismantled it's served mus too well.

What would you guys advise?

Have you had a second opinion? How long have you had it, how often was it serviced and by whom?

Bought it when it was 6 months old. I've done all but the first 5000 miles. It has a full service history, initially by Main Dealer, then a VW independent specialist.

It was a main dealer who diagnosed the problem, it's now with a local ex Audi independent local garage who has taken a look and confirms wear on the cam.

It's been there for quite a few months now while I mull over my options.

I can understand you wanting to save it, if the rest of the car is in reasonable condition can you not justify the repair and keep it longer?

In desperation whilst on holiday in Scotland committed to a Karoq.

So now can't really afford to repair a car that won't be used

Sometimes you make the wrong decision

Think my wife and I need to say goodbye to a car that gave us 12 years of faithful service

I would advise putting a For Sale  advert on some Skoda Enthusiast forum like BRISKODA.
