NSF Doorlock woes

Featured Replies

I had some problems with the NSF door handle breaking off back in 2019 and eventually got a replacement from eBay after  help from the forumFurther

development is that after a period of becoming reluctant to open the passenger door with the remote, it decided on the day of the MOT last October not  to open at all.

Fortunately they managed to get it to open but the replacement lock seems to be about £180.

The first scrapyard one had the wrong number of pins and an eBay used one with the right numbe of pins and an identical part number to the old one  fits physically  but won't work.

If the driver's door lock is put in the passenger side, it works, suggesting that it's not the wiring.

Does a lock from another car  need  to be recoded to the car on the MK1 Fabia ?

And is there a reasonably priced aftermarket replacement ? It's a 5 door 05 rege Elegance.Estate.

Thanks.

Did you try the one with the wrong number of pins? More or fewer pins?

What is the part number of the non-working ebay one with identical part number?

There's nothing in these lock modules that could be coded, it's just mechanical bits, microswitches, a little dc motor and the odd resistor.

A non-working one in my newer Polo was mended recently by cleaning up the innards of the motor; but it's not easy to get into it to do so.

Thanks. The car's not here so I can't check the numbers. Thought I had photographed the parts but can't see it on my phone.

Good  to know it doesn't need coded.

I've ordered one of the pattern ones from eBay so we'll see if that works. Let's hope I remembered the number of pins correctly.

When you say wrong number of pins, do you mean the connector wouldn't physically fit, or just that more/less of the ones in the connector on the lock were pin-filled?

This is the bit I cleaned up to get my original lock going by the way, if you fancy having a go:
