Sound near foot pedal when accelerating (Octavia Vrs)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I am driving a 2018 Octavia VRS sedan.

This issue been with me since the car is new (1 & 1/2 years ago). It was a very faint sound so I live with it. But early this year it started to get louder and now it is too obvious hearing it.

It only happens when I press the accelerator. It also happens when the cruise control is accelerating to pick up to the speed I set.

I took the car to the dealer to check and they cannot come out with a solution, and asked to return again after the Covid19 lock down is over.

So I come to this forum to see if anyone have any idea?

Attached is the sound file I recorded with my phone.

I can't really hear much on the recording. Can you describe the sound?

@TsQ

So did the Technician driving the car hear the noise and accept it was a fault,

and they  just said they do not know of a solution to address the fault and repair it?

When lockdown is over then the car will need left with them until they get someone competent to get a solution and carry out the work.

The combined knowledge of Skoda CZ should be able to sort it out.

Yes. They did a test and acknowledged it bring not normal.  They can't find the source of the faulty part.

I did a search in this forum and saw a few post describing similar symptoms but there was no clear solution mentioned.

Hi everyone. Just an update.

A random check found some oil seepage near the GB area and dealer workshop points the fault at the "differential lock unit" and did a overhaul (new gasket, ball bearing, gear oil, bolts and plugs.... the whole lot).

After the overhaul is done, this ticking sound is all gone when i accelerate at slow/mid/fast pace. So yeah I am pretty happy that its resolved.
