New Karoq, couple of Q's please..?

Featured Replies

I've just taken delivery of a new Karoq Sportline 2.0 TDI on the 19" wheels.

1) There is no locking wheel nut and I've been back on to the dealer and he is going to try and find one for me.  The car has the optional full size 16" metal rim spare wheel. If I had to use this do the wheel bolts from the alloys fit, or should there be a set of different wheel bolts does anyone know please..?

2) It came with two keys. My Octy had three. I didn't think much of it at the dealers but just read on here about a Karoq owner with three keys..   Should I have been given three keys ?

Thanks in advance for any help !

2 Keys only.

You use the wheel bolts that are on the car if you need to use the spare wheel.

They have to do more than find the the locking wheel nut, they need to get one ordered in, then check with the technician or fitter that did the PDI why they had not checked it was there and what else was not checked.

?

What tyre pressures did the car get handed over to you at?

Have you dipped the oil when cold and as per manual @ Normal Operating temp to see that it was handed over at the correct level.

Look at where the coolant level is when the car is new.

Thanks !

I haven't yet checked the tyre pressures but whilst the car was on flat ground in my garage ( for fitting the dash cam), with warm engine,  I dipped the oil, which was half way up the dipstick, so I've topped it up to the max mark.....

I collected it on Wednesday and I suspect that Covid issues possibly distracted them from a less than perfect transaction.....

But I am happy with the car, it is much better than I was expecting. I only swapped the Octy because I was bored in lockdown, but I am actually quite chuffed with this Karoq....!

You only get 3 keys with the Karoq if you have the "drive mode personalisation" option which allows the car to be set up for three individuals. ( Probably most useful when car has electric seats  ).

If anyone is ordering from new, it's actually not a bad option to have as it only costs £35 but you get that extra key. A lot cheaper than a replacement key if you loose one.

Bit concerned about locking wheel nut tho. Does your car already have the bolt fitted and it's just the nut itself that's missing?  Wow!  So what happens if you need to change a tyre?

Yep..!

I guess for now it's call Skoda roadside assist, it's their problem !

Will just have to keep my fingers crossed for now until a replacement arrives...

My Octavia 2005 came with locking wheel bolts (with adapter), Karoq 2019 didn't.
I guess alloy wheels have become so common that thieves have lost interest in them, especially in the hard-riding 19" ones. 😊

@Phil245

I would check the oil parked on the flat after about 4-5 minutes after having got the oil up near 90*oC indicated (Normal Operating temperature)

Just to be sure you have not overfilled it by checking and topping up when 'warm'.

Are the tweezers there for removing the caps on the bolts?

Yes thanks, it seems to be just the locking wheel nut missing.

Yeah...I will keep an eye on the oil....

@Phil245

?

Have you checked to see that there are Security Bolts on the car?

I know there should be, unless Skoda are penny pinching again.

Ha,   yes.

I was getting ready to jack the car up and take the wheels off to paint the hubs in silver hammerite and had got two trolley jacks already, took the plastic bolt covers off, and it's  definitely got locking wheel nuts !

Just to round the story off.....

Just had a phone call from the dealer, they have found the wheel nut, apparently they were removed for security over lock down, and they are going to post it out to me ( I live 50+ miles away otherwise I would go and get it!).

Cheers all....

Phil
