VRS Exhaust setup

Featured Replies

Hi all! New member just got myself my first octavia vrs mk2. I plan on keeping it standard for a while but I plan on buying an exhaust for it soon to give it a nicer noise! However I'm realistically a bit of a newbie to the buisness (But willing to learn!), my concerning being some people have said to me get a de cat if you plan on eventually taking it to stage 2 and above, however by removing the CATS surely that would failed me when my MOT comes around ? Would it make more sense to look at cat back exhaust set ups or will they not provide enough flow ? all rather confusing buisness for myself and thought you guys would have a better idea! Thanks all.

hi and welcome - it's worth stating what engine you have and year, should be able to get better answers then :)

My mistake, its an 06 TFSI. To add I've also been informed I would need a De cat or a turbo back exhaust however besides price, is there a huge difference ? and ofc the fact one is a single section, the other being an entire exhaust system,

ok so it's not illegal to remove the cat but  it's a requirement for an mot.

if you're going stage 2 I'd be looking at high flow turbo back with 200cell cat. later add in high flow intake, uprated DV version, upgraded intercooler and engine mounts.

Surely there must be a more permanent replacement rather than replacing a cat every year ?

yeah as I said a 200 cell cat (sports cat) you won't need to replace this every year .. unless you mean removing the cat and refitting for MOT Each year.

Ah apologies, skimmed over that. Ill look into a 200 cell
