AC not working properly

Featured Replies

Hello, I need advice on air conditioning. It's acting weird. If I set a temperature on climatronic to 18 degrees and outside is 25 degrees, I press AUTO and the AC starts colling. After a while, cold air stops blowing from air vents, although the AC output is at max (compressor shut-off code is 0). I have found that the current and the specified value of the potentiometer g143 (air recirculation flap v113) are different in this state.  Picture from vcds below.

If I press ECON, wait a while and then press AUTO again, the air conditioner will start cooling again for a while and then cold air stops blowing from air vents again. Do you think it could be caused by the control motor v113? Thank you.

Watch the values when it makes the transition from cooling to not cooling, if the flap was open before then its being commanded to close and wont be a sticking flap problem.

It sounds similar to another thread running, my Octavia 2 would do this shortly after start up but only for a few seconds, I think it may have been a defrost cycle on the evaporator.

Also check the refrigerant pressure when the transition happens, if that drops from say 15 bar and there is not a corresponding change in the values for the N280 current & compressor load then the N280 valve is playing up, maybe the drop in cooling causes the flap to divert air.

You should also look at the evaporator temperature.
