Bulb out warning light

Featured Replies

I’ve just fitted a reverse camera that fits in the number plate light (it also has a led built in) but now the bulb out warning light on the dash has come on. But no lights are blown. Can any one suggest what I need to do to rectify this problem please?

Try disconnecting your camera/restoring original lighting to see if it makes a difference.

The warning may be triggered by an intermittent bad connection/faulty bulb although everything appears good.

If it's not related to your modification and no specific bulb is shown, you can either actively check each bulb, its contacts and connections or wait until a bulb obviously fails.

Be sure to cycle the ignition before any check to clear any warnings as they are not cleared immediately simply by replacing a bad bulb.

It could that the car sees the LED bulb in the camera mounting as a failed incandescent bulb unless there is a resistor across it.

Thanks guys

I fitted one on my Octavia 2 and it didn't trigger a warning, either that circuit was not monitored or it was because it had 2 number plate lights and the other still had an incandescent bulb.

The camera that I fitted to the Yeti uses the existing bulb & bulbholder, was cheaper and of course no problems.

You either need a resistor fitting to trick the car or the bulb warning for the number plate bulbs with VCDS deactivating.

Thanks for all your help I have ordered these from ebay

I think that will sort the problem thanks again

They may do but make sure that you fit the resistors correctly as they may get very hot and melt something.
