Removing the center console ???

Featured Replies

Does anybody know how to remove the center console

The bit bettween the handbrake and the main dash (the bit that the gear stick sticks out of)

i have undone the bolt infront of the handbrake

removed the two screws behind the ashtray

removed the screws at the back neer your feet

but the thing seems wont budge

it seems solid around the part that it meets the main dash but i can find any fixings

can anybody help ?

Dunno if it helps but on the fabia, there's an insert in the ashtray and a couple of bolts/screws under it. Might be a totally useless bit of advice this.

If its any consolation my stealer seemed to have problems with this and attacked it with a screwdriver to prise it off.

Its getting a new one fitted next Tuesday.

w was hoping it might just slide off (wishful thinking)

im hoping to remove it this weekend

if not could you ask how they removed it

Ok I will try and explain as best as possible but it was not easy.

1- remove rear bit of trim with coin holder in it, I think you are saying you can do this ok.

2- undo screws There are two uncovered when you take the back trim off if I remember correctly and two underneath the gear gator. You just lift the plastic it attaches to from the back and it unclips. The two screws under here hold the ash tray in which you need pull out once you have undone the screws.

3- remove handbake plastic sleeve.

4- If you now lift the plastic a bit of the clips at the back the whole think has to push forward about 3" at which points it drops off all fastenings.

If you need to remove it you have to take it out backwards buts its tricky.

First porect all the top plastic around the front area with duct tape or you will scratch it.

Secondly pull the handbrake as high as you can get it.

third pull it back and tilt it up. You have to get it under the handbrake which is why I said remove the handbrake cover as it gives a few extra mm.

Watch you dont catch the metal holding clips which are exposed when you drop it off at the front when removing it and cover the handbrake with duct tape to make sure it dosent scratch the back of the plastic.

Wehn putting it back in make sure you clip it over the retining clip in the footwell otherwise it gets in the way of the clutch rest.

Not very clear I knoe but if you want my phone neumber PM me and I can try to explain a bit better.
