Removing dents from bumper

Featured Replies

Hi folks, my car hasn't got many dents, but it has a smattering of small dings on the back bumper.  Perhaps a previous owner was doing the Italian parking technique of bumper nudging or something lol.

These are mostly small circular prod marks.  I've read up on various techniques to remove them, including them popping out with a kettle of boiling water, and heating them up with a heat gun and gently pressing them from behind with a rounded object like a screwdriver handle.

I'm just wondering if anyones had any success removing small dings from bumpers.

Big-a55 dents, yes, but not had any success with small dings / dents using boiling water.

Yeah, I had a feeling they might be a bit too ‘tight’ to respond to this method.

How small we taking?!? 20p, 50p, 1p?!

You could try the very cheap glue gun/sticks and a kind of bridge, with screw things on (Dent puller)... You hot glue the feet to the car, in the dent and then use the bridge bit to tighten the foot bit by bit, pulling it slowly. This kind of thing, I mean. (see below, copy and paste into eBay). there are many other types and models to choose from, success is by no means guaranteed!

The centres, probably not much bigger than the width of a biro, maybe 5p sized in total

😔 bugger. Professional job I reckon. Always worth trying hot water, as it’s a free go!

I can probably live with the dents for the moment, the rest of the car is virtually dent free (a couple of very hard to spot ones), it's probably the worst part of the car, and something I didn't notice at all when I was buying it lol.

I might have a go with a heat gun and something behind to massage the dents a little.  We'll see.

£20 paintless dent puller removal tool with doo the trick.
