Moobillity then purchase?

Featured Replies

My wife is on full PIP with MS.
I wondered can you get a car via Motorbillity and then purchase it off the lease company .

how does that work out versus cash purchase?

could you lease it 2 years on the Scheme and terminate the motorbillity scheme Purchasing the car outright?

I’m  thinking this way as it fits in with Cash flow/retirement

My very limited understanding of it, from conversations had while delivering Motorbility vehicles several years ago is that you can't buy your own car from them. Sometimes your supplying dealer will help you work around this by buying the car from Motorbility then selling it to you, but there's obviously got to be something in it for them to make them want to do it.

The Motability website has the required info.

The lease is for 3 years unless the car has done less than 15,000 miles

@ 3 years old and then the lease can be extended to 5 years.

***You can ask for a price to buy at end of lease, so before 3 years old.*** EDIT, i just checked and no longer correct.

My 2016 SEAT Alhambra had a RRP over £30,000.

Motability paid £24,500 for it.

I asked before hand back how much to buy it and was told £18,400.   (I would not have bought it for £12,000, i knew how it was treated even though it looked good and i got my £600 Good Condition payment eventually, Motability lost trace of the car and even though sold they thought i still had it.

The pictures taken at handback by the salesperson are the ones used by BAC to sell them.

It went back, went to BCA but actually then straight on to Arnold Clark who had it advertised @ £16,500, now it is for sale still at £16,000.

At least the stuff that was on the advisory on the MOT done 2 months before the hand back is now done and another MOT carried out.

EDIT. PS.

Scrap that......

They have removed the option to buy at the end of lease.

If you lose PIP and they terminate the Lease, you can ask to purchase the vehicle and what they want for it.

This was the price i got from them because i did ask 4 months before end of the lease when i thought i was not getting PIP.
