Changing Radio

Featured Replies

Octavia mk2 2007

Has anyone changed the radio for a Chinese multimedia. There's plenty of info for later models but 2007 , not so much.

I would appreciate any help on this one

Cheers

Yes, what do you want to know specifically?

I have looked at the multimedia units available and while they list vehicles that they fit the mk2 2007 isn't listed. I have looked at the measurements and facia available but it's not really positive.

Then I am not sure about the connections needed, if the unit is say for 2014 then I would know the connections would be ok. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated unit for my model

Cheers

On both my 2006 Octavia and the 2015 Yeti I had to make facia adaptors because there were very few units that would fit and really overpriced, indeed the first one that I bought was supposed to fit and didnt.

You can find OE facias for I think its the Columbus radio which might fit but they are very expensive.

You need to look for one with dedicated fitment for VAG vehicles and with the same style of connector that you have (cant recall the terminology) even the first one is not necessary, all they will have done is made a change in the configuration menu to choose the VAG canbus protocole, something you can do yourself with the factory access code.

The cheapest are the double DIN units, you would need to make an adaptor but they tend to have smaller screens and not the buttons down either side like the OE unit, mine being for a VAG fascia has the right shape and angle but not the correct width.
