Selling BMW 330d & Moving to Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to change my Year 2000 BMW 330d to a newer 2003 onwards Fabia vRS.

I've owned the 330d for nearly a year and loved every minute of it. I'm now looking to reduce my motoring costs and purchase a newer car etc etc that's the reason for the change. Also the girlfriend is thinking about learning to drive and the BMW will be too big..

My annual mileage is around 20,000miles, so I will be looking for a Fabia with less than 30,000miles.

Is there any key things I need to look for in particular in a Fabia vRS as I will be more than likely buying privately?

Are there any performance figures available for a standard car, i.e. 30-50, 50-70, etc etc

Cheers

RickyD

Welcome! Big change but you should enjoy the Fabia.Still clinging on to prices quite well.

There are lots of performance figures on the site.Recent thread on scoobynet posted figures showing vRS comparable to a 320d BMW (NOT 330d!).You will miss some poke but it is plenty quick enough.

Enjoy and good luck with the purchase

Hello and welcome, coming from a BMW you should find the indicators are a useful addition!;)

Welcome :D Have a browse through the Fabia forum - there are several threads on common problems :D

If you're looking at an '03 it'll have the longer gear ratio's which were revised in late 2004 I think....

Welcome to BRISKODA

Welcome to the site - interesting change of vehicle, will be interesting to see how you find the differences in engine power delivery :)

Welcome.

Welcome to the forum. Big change and a brave move but one I'm sure you will enjoy. The Fabia vRS is a cracking little car

I doubt you'll be that disappointed, if you don't expect it to match the performance and handling of the 330D. It won't. It costs 1/3 as much. That said, a good friend of mine who's had a number of 330Ds was very upbeat when I told him of my purchase of the vRS, and said that they're great cars. He's not wrong.

They're strange wee beasties, in that the kick-in-the-back acceleration puts a big grin on your face, and makes the car feel faster than it really is. As the power and torque thumps in at less than 2000rpm, you really feel it in every gear.

It certainly has the umph to surprise more powerful cars on the motorway, when they're in "cruising" gears. Just don't expect it to be able to "burn off" such cars when they're in the right power band... ;) That said, while my Scooby will annihilate (sp?) the vRS, it'll have to park up after 220 miles for another £45 fill up. The vRS will keep on running for nearly 500 (over that, if on a decent run) and cost about £35 to refill.

I have a Scooby and a vRS. I love them both. Not planning to sell either.

I never let either go much into the red. So the usual fill up is about £35.

But point taken - it won't do 500 miles off of £35 :D Unless it's a very, very long down hill section in neutral ;)

Will have to try that trick in the Scooby - see if I can get more than my previous best of 28mpg out of it. Usually get about 20, so you can see part of the attraction of the vRS! :D
