Tyre Pressure Monitoring - accuracy?

Featured Replies

On a recent drive,my TPM alert went off highlighting an issue with the near side front and rear tyres.I soon stopped and found both these tyres were ok with no loss of air after gauge checking.I soon finished the journey and re checked the pressures of these together with both off side tyres and again no recorded pressure loss. I then went into the system and carried out a reset to the system as per hand book instruction. This incident would appear to have been a false alarm.

Any constructive thoughts?

Had the same last w/end on the M74, all tyres spot on 40psi when measured.  I did wonder if it was a gremlin in the machine as it happened when I was flicking through a menu using the steering wheel right thumb wheel.

It doesn’t measure pressure.  It works by monitoring the wheel speed, if a tyre goes down its speed changes and it will flag up a potential issue.

It can be fooled but bumps etc.
