Airbag light on after removing and replacing front passenger seat.

Featured Replies

Today I had to remove the front passenger seat from my Skoda Octavia so I could get a fridge freezer in. Only issue is that I had to unplug the airbag that was in that seat so the car is now complaining. Does anyone know the way to reset the airbag system to rectify this fault? I need to get it sorted soon as the MOT is due in about 2 months. I dont plan on taking it to a specialist if I dont have to as that would be quite a lot of money just to reset the airbag system.

It'll need the fault code clearing with VCDS or similar.

Although I'm also in England, I may not be close! You might find someone more local on the VCDS map in the VCDS section :)

Ah so its just a fault code which needs clearing? There is someone in my street that might be able to help with that. I will ask him first if thats the case.

Should be assuming it was fine before you unplugged the seat and you've plugged it back in ;)

Yes it was thanks.

You could for basic code reading and resetting just don't expect it to do much else.

I dont need it to, but I can see if there is anything that I can fix myself with such a device. Then reset the code and see if the problem goes away.

Ok so after plugging in the basic OBD2 port reader it tells me there is no codes when clearly its showing the airbag light!

No surprise there for me, my chocolate teapot one which looks exactly like your has yet to show a single code after 2 years.

I'm not sure that the airbag system generates a generic OBD code and I know I had to find a garage with a dealer level Snap on code reader to find what the fault was (failed module) and to reset the light after it was replaced.

I will talk to the guy I'm my street, he may have one for a Skoda.

Is this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254713072367 something that would work and would it work for all Skoda cars?

Got this sorted with my Carista, it saw the airbag fault and some others and cleared them off.
