Cr170 TDI day steering wheel controls not working and airbag light on

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, any help in this would be much appreciated , whist out driving today and taking a sharp right hand turn the steering wheel controls have stopped working and I also felt a click come through steering wheel, airbag light is on also, has anybody else has this problem were the steering wheel controls have stopped working? I've had the airbag light on b4 but it's been a broken wire in the door. Any help appreciated, cheers

Could be the clock spring aka the squib? It's basically the wire between the steering wheel and the steering wheel controller.

If it failed, it would match your symptoms. Probably worth getting a scan done by vcds or similar 🙂

Hi just to add to this tgread, had the car to mai. Dealer today and they diagnosed as clock spring , however when I went to pick the car up I noticed the scroll wheel on the right of the steering wheel and also the paddles still aren't working, upon speaking with the technician that fixed it he's now saying the problem is the scroll wheel is bronken, my question is would the scroll wheel broken effect the paddles not working? Just to add, the horn now works, airbag light is off and crunching from steering wheel has gone since clock spring replaced. Thanks for any help in advance
