Satnav SD card

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have found this website very informative and it has helped me to decide to buy a second hand Yeti 67 plate. There are certainly a lot of knowledgeable owners on this site!

My Yeti has an Amundsen system in it with sat nav capability, but no SD card in it. No sat nav image appears if you press the relevant button but radio etc work fine.

The car dealer has told us that they have purchased a Skoda sat nav SD card (ebay) and will post it on to us. My questions are:

1. Which way around do you put the SD card in? Does it matter which of the two slots it goes in?

2. Will the SD card work straight away? I have read somewhere that they have to be coded by a Skoda dealer at high cost.

Replies in idiot proof language please!  Being female, aged 70 and not mechanically minded.

Hi Claude and welcome,

There is only one way the SD card can go into the slot so It really is easy to do. My Octavia Sat Nav SD card is in slot 1 and the corner that is angled goes in to the slot head first to the right side with the sticker facing upwards, push in until you hear a "click".

There's no harm in trying and I'm sure it would work straight away, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon to confirm.

@Admins - can you kindly move this post to correct section please?

On my Yeti there are two slots for SD Cards, you can use the other for music.  It does not matter which slot you use.  The slots are both vertical.  The SD Card goes in the left slot with its label on the left but in the right-hand slot it goes in with the label on the right.  When you card arrives, fit it with the ignition off or turn the 'radio' off first.  When you first switch on you get a message, Checking Sat data or similar.  It should just work.  I'm guessing the car had satnav and someone lost or nicked the SD Card!

Thank you. Really helpful.

You are lucky the dealer ordered a new card for you.  At retail, it would have cost you quite a lot.

Bought mine off eBay for £40 and works perfectly well although it took a while to download it. Skoda wanted over £200 to do it which I thought was totally out of order. Won't get lost in my Yeti any time soon.

An update ..... The car seller sent the satnav SD card. We put it in and it worked immediately. Didn't have to wait for it to download.

Have you current maps?  ECE....20/21  -  various versions.  If in doubt, go to https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-gb

Most “new” cards contain out of date mapping data - you just need to download newest maps from Skoda website ( see link in farty’s post) and update your new SD card. Easiest if you enter the VIN number of your Yeti and it then brings up latest mapping for you to download. On the same page there are videos of the updating procedure. Maps are updated twice a year to include latest road changes in that period. Only real advice is to give yourself plenty of time while the maps download, they are big files and depending on your internet speed can take over an hour to download.

If you check the version info as Urrell advises (Setup on Amundsen then version info) then compare that version number with latest on Skoda website you will know if you need to update - which I think you will!

Thank you. I have looked and it is the 2018/19 version. Yesterday it showed the speed limit symbol in the top LHS of the screen.  Today it doesn't.  How do I get the speed limit icon back please?

Did you update the maps?  Which map did you choose?

Eh?? Just put SD card in, no update done.

You won't see the speed limit unless you are driving.

We were driving, in a 30 then 40 mph limit.

Update your maps and then see.

There are a few roads without speed limits displayed on the screen.

First thing to do is update your maps!

Mind you I still prefer Waze or Google via Smartlink and use them in preference to the built in SatNav!
