Custom Re-map -Anyone heard of used these guys?

Featured Replies

Hiya folks

Anyone heard of or used these guys before???

http://www.chipboost.com/

I was speaking to the guy and he seems to know what he is on about

and he has a link on his site to Briskoda so thought maybe someone had used him before?

On his ebay page its on

Hadn't heard of them until you posted up all this information.

It looks like a good price if the power gain is accurate but I haven't heard of anyone on here having had their motors chipped by them?

The fact he spells Volkswagen as "Volkswagon" doesn't fill me with a huge dose of confidence.

Most ebay tuners use generic files from Germany, and these generic files are usually per engine/car, not per ECU number.

£150 quid is cheap as chips though... It could be worth a punt, but then again, like most cheap things, there's always a risk it could be too good to be true.

I'd leave the spelling alone really Josh, it doesn't mean much and won't have a bearing on the work done. I mean, based on that I wouldn't use JBS due to them not being able to spell diesel properly :D

As for the re-map - what's to lose? They'll reset to standard for free :D

Spoke to him this evening and he said he could achieve up to 210bhp and 330lb/ft of torque!!!

But to be on the safe side and because its an auto box he would want to keep it to about 190/195 bhp and 290-295 lb of torque

he says its a compnay in austria he works with who write the programms !

Tavia,

Good call mate...

I forgot about DEIEESL or however it's spelled L O L

I'm sure it'll be ok... Just like No Frills beans are "ok". You pays your money...

:)

Sounds like Upsolute

Well i think i'm going to try it.

The guy said he can alter the boost and fuelling according to my prefrences so as not to ruin the economy or reliability!

TBH I think alot of companys charge a huge mark up on there products simply because they are well known and they can get away with it!

The fact is companys like Dragon are selling there products on ebay with no reserve and sometimes they are going for well under

Not on custom re-maps though from the likes of Jabba and JBS... the price is higher because you're getting a custom map that's set up on a rolling road. Those costs have to be covered somewhere..... Good luck though you might want to try casting the net a bit further on other VAG sites to see if others have used them.

Jimmy,

And the other compaines who offer custom tuning....apr, star, revo etc to name but a few around the land...

He's not wrong for the "starter aka phase1" maps if you like. The custom ones are done on rollers or laptops driving, which for the latter equates to about 200 quid an hour, for what is mostly repeat tweaks made to other cars of a similar modification and tune parts wise., for 600 to 800 I'd prefer to know the car was run on rollers and logged, i.e a day's worth of tuning. You of course won't get that from the ebay, but then 80% of folk are happy wth the phase1.

However non ebay sales if you like have other costs, like staff, advertising buildings to rent and so on, rolelrs to pay for. It's often easy to fnd a cheap source and then blast the seemingly overpriced equivilent, but some places have costs others don't...qed a free market, some will pay to vist a building of a reptuable company, sadly there is no warranty on any company, but in my mind your likly to stuggle finding an ebay based company over an established tuner.

The stinker is you can't as you can in Europe, pop into a dealer and get a safe reamp with warranty, you can in Mainland Euro; but not in the UK. Pretty much true of most manf's though.

i got my fabia vrs remapped by chipboost and he done a great job:thumbup: ! he takes your ECU numbers from you before hand and uses them for your new map. he came to me and charged me
