Octavia VRS Diesel Clutch problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

About a month or so ago I bought a 2015 Octavia VRS Diesel.

The day before yesterday I used the car to nip to the shop and when I went to start the car to go home when I depressed the clutch pedal there was resistance and a metal thud noise, it almost sounded like the noise you get when you open a tin of Roses/Quality street. I took my foot of the clutch a couple of times and pressed it a few times and it released and the car started. I took the scenic way home and the problem didn't happen again. I used the car later on that evening with no issues.

Yesterday again I took the car for a short journey and again had the same problem when trying to start the car to go home. Later in the evening I took the car for another run to see if I could get the problem to happen again but there was no issues.

It could be just coincidence but both times it has happened was after 2 very short journeys.

I had an oil change done the day before the problem happened but again I assume that is just coincidence. There are no noises or any issues from the clutch when driving.

Was just hoping for some advice, due to covid I am not working at the moment and don't have the cash to book it in to get looked at plus I can't get the car to replicate the problem.

If you purchased your car from any garage in the UK. You should go back to the garage and inform them there is an issue. You are covered for 6 months under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the garage are still liable despite what they might say. If you have a dashcam or some other recording device that can capture the noise it makes would make it easier to prove there is a fault.
