1st big drive

Featured Replies

1st big journey today from Kent to Somerset. Really nice ride and just over 60mpg. The lane departure is very annoying and kept beeping at me to drive in the middle of the lane! Mainly in roadworks. Wiper very slow to react to sudden heavy rain and twice ended up having to put them on manually. Still maintain better drive than 2018 Audi A4 with 1.4 engine.

60mpg is good for the petrol is it not - what average speed?

The LA can be switched off I believe from the menu but turns back on when car is restarted I have read - hope someone works out how to kill that via VCDS or similar!

70mph on cruise control 95% of journey.

What engine have you gone for?

1.5 petrol

Definitely something different about the engine setup and/or software in the mark 4! I've got the same engine in my 2019 mark 3 car and no way would it give me anything like that sort of mpg. It had quite good fuel economy initially until the garage gave it the software update to fix the roughness in pulling away in first gear, afterwards it lost at least 10% average mpg and has been that way for more than a year now. Garage weren't interested as apparently the engine was operating within normal parameters and just ignored me.

My first drive with the same engine was similar, and I suspect economy would be even better now it has loosened up. I’m really not bothered by the lane assist, it takes less than a second to turn off with two presses of the steering wheel buttons so not a big task!

have you pressed the button and you will see 2 green above and bottom of the speedo, once you see this then scroll to the settings

Unfortunately not Matmacka, I do get the option to display what I want scrolling through, but only for the two circles, with no sight of settings.

yes its only for the 2 circles, if you scroll all the way through you should see settings, all the new octavia s have the same dashboard interface so you will have settings
