P2015 Fault - Intake Manifold Runner Position

Hi Everyone. I'm after a bit of advice re the infamous P2015 Fault code. 

The code has appeared on my Octavia Mk2 vrs, and after reading a few threads, it would appear to be a common fault. And a common fix is to fit an aluminium bracket to the manifold motor. 

I have a plastic manifold, which may need to be removed to fit the bracket. 

First question - can this bracket be fitted to a plastic manifold - even if it does require full removal. 

Second question - how likely will this actually work? One garage, who aren't a dealer, say the manifold needs replacing, which will cost £££s! 

Any support, advice, would be greatly appreciated.
