I have a 2013 L and K superb estate with the Columbus infotainment system

HW version H20

SW Version 6276 with Map version 8348 with TV tuner.

 

Does anyone know { i.e. Rustynuts] if it is possible to get android auto [ Waze etc ] to display on the unit?

I'm afraid not. the RNS-510 style Columbus is pretty ancient tech even though you have the latest version :(

Yes but you need to add external modules to it which IMHO doesn't make any sense. I rather recommend to replace it with MIB STD2 PQ unit. If you are interested pls contact me on PM.
