Summer wheels for the Octavia - what willfit best?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I bought a new octavia this year and i have the stock 16" wheels on with wich i will use for the winter.

So i need to buy new wheels for the summer. I am looking at 18" wheels and i want to keep the stock tyre size 225/40/18.

So far i found wheels that i like - Borbet Y titan matt 8Jx18", but i am wondering about the offset. There are two choices et44 and et48.

My first question is: will the 225 tyre fit on the 8j wheel because the stock wide is 7.5j on 18"?

And the second: what et should i get because i dont want the wheel to poke out of the car? I know that 4mm are not much but still...

If anyone is driving with Borbet Y or similar size wheels I would love to see some pictures of the fitment.

Thanks a lot.

Not much in it with these offsets. My Octavia has 17" Hawk wheels and they are ET49 so I'd go for ET48.

8j are 6mm (ish) further out so add that to the 4mm difference if going for et44.

8j et44 stick out 10mm more than 7.5j et48

8j et48 will stick out only 2mm more than 7.5 et44 but will be 10mm closer to the strut/spring

If inner clearance is not an issue and you want stock look then 8j et48 would be good.  10mm out would look good though and retain inner clearance.
