wheels winter setup - photos

Featured Replies

hello everyone... I just bought Karoq sportline and waiting for a delivery... As you all know it comes with 19" alloys, so I'm looking for 17" winter setup...

Since there is so many owners here, can you post some photos, or any idea for 17" wheels?

I'm considering stratos 17" wheels (superb), might look cool on a karoq too.

Did someone say winter and wheels?

Fair bit of snow forecast over the next few days so will get out in more than the light dusting above.

Whereabouts are you based @DSL?

I've not got around to fitting mine yet due to the weather being still relatively good.

Up in the Heelands, Grantown on Spey to be specific.    I’ve had mine on since end Sept, I like to fit them a little early as it’s easier to fit when you can feel your fingers.  Mind you, got the garage that fitted the tyres to swap the wheels but did SWMBO’s Jazz on the drive.

@DSL yeah, got an offer from a dealer for new ratikons + bridgestone blizzak - 1250 pounds...

also found stratos wheels for 350 € used...

And what about Rial Kodiak, 360 € set of new wheels (looks similar as ratikons  lol)

I am using the steel 16” 6j winter wheels I bought new for my yeti. Now on third winter.

These tyres are probably cheaper than 17” which would have to be lower profile. The new steel hubs were £50 each and I had a choice of tyres fitted.

currently using Dunlop Winter Sport.

Winter  tyres are meant to be  on16” 6j as standard for Karoq. Hence this size is on the filler cover.

I bought 2 additional sets of 4 x Ratikons, one for £350 and one for £250 (plus £60 in diesel to go and get them).  I like the simplicity of them, plus no need to worry re informing the InsCo.  Reason I got 2 sets is it gives me a full sized spare in each the type, I’ll just rotate them round so the extra tyre gets used.  And yes, that gives me 2 x unused rims that I’ll either keep as spares, flog or look for another set of 4 so I can have a set of 5 x Michelin Latitude Plus, then I’ll only have to sort out 1 extra.  Man maths in action!   :D

Re the above Rials, yes they look good but I’d have to see them on a car to see whether I like them or not.  I did look at Tiguan or A3 rims, I was just about to commit to a set of A3 rims when I managed to get the first set of Ratikons.  And the rest is history! 👍

Hi, fitted falken eurowinter tyres to 19” crater alloys on my Edition 2.0tdi 4x4 for last 2 winters but no snow yet!!

Was out on my Contis yesterday to see what they were like now things have turned a little wintery.  Happy to find on both compacted snow and ice all was good.  I even pulled over into a forestry access to see if I could get some wheel spin on sheet ice, wheel stubbornly refused to spin!  Hard braking, where safe to do so, also didn’t even get the ABS kicking in!  Well happy.

I use 17” Nanuqs with Contis. Unstoppable (almost). 19s in summer.

OK, it’s a Bear, but you’ll get the idea.

Plenty of snow here today and I have a steep drive which a 2wd car on summer tyres would not get up in snow.

No problem at all with 4wd and Dunlop winter tyres. Snow mode is great as it applies power to all the tyres to move away up the slope with no spinning noticeable
