PD 105 BKC possible injector/harness fault but no DTC?

I'm trying to fix a rough running engine when cold and under load.

 

I'm still diagnosing it as a potential fuelling issue, restriction/air ingress but I was wondering if it was the well known injector harness problem where the electrical connectors become loose.

 

Could this happen without triggering a DTC?

 

I don't have VCDS but a similar tool and will check block 13 to see if there is an injector out of line.

 

Is there anything else I should check before lifting the cam cover for a check of the harness.

 

The rough running only happens when the engine is cold and under moderate load, clearing within a couple of miles.
