Dark mode dash option?

In my ‘old’ 2017 A3, there was a * button on the steering wheel that I could assign a function to. I had it set to ‘dark running’ mode. It basically turned the maxi dot off and combined with the screen off made a nice dim interior. Obviously Ive figured out how to turn the main screen off and control the brightness of the clocks but I’m wondering if Ive missed something to turn off the maxi dot.

Also anyone figured a way to reassign functions to the steering wheel assist button? I rarely press it so would love to change its function
