Hi I am thinking of replacing the standard exhaust on my mk1 Vrs octavia. 
could I ask what people have fitted and which are the best and why. 
 

Also has anyone just fitted a cherry bomb for the sound?

Cherry Bomb? Jesh, do these things still exist? Was the rage back in the early 2000 with them being on the Saxo, 106’s and the Polo’s!

Depending on what you want, I think a fair few of us on here have gone for a ‘slightly louder then oem’ sound. Milltek have been very popular and are one of the most quietest sounding exhaust system (even the non-res ones). I’ve personally got a Milltek Non-Res with a Milltek Sportscat and it gives a nice burble sound. The great thing about these systems is that they don’t hum or drone on the motorway.

On my other VRS I have a piper system (it came with the car) I don’t personally like the look of it but it’s a nice sounding system from cat-back. Again, only slightly louder then stock.
