Also bearing in mind that ive done all the rear suspension now and the front suspension  the works why not just finish off with the new bearings I dont see how you can say its a bad thing to consider replacing bearing at 80k they do wear you know.

Well thats your opinion wino but in my opinion why wait till it breaks on a major component ive done 80k and in my books its not for the sake of it its called preventative maintenance and forward thinking rather than the old let it go pop before I can be arsed to fix it.

Wheel bearings don't usually suddenly go pop, they just get noisy and then you know they need replacing. It's not a particularly easy job to do just for prevention, and they might go on for many more miles yet. But it's your car and up to you of course.

Why wait til it breaks? Because the car may well not last long enough for that to happen, so you'd be completely wasting time, effort and money by changing something that is working fine.

Research the job a bit on youtube, you may change your mind.

I had a worn rear wheel bearing last year that didn't make an obvious sound. It just had far too much friction. It kinda felt like the handbrake cable was sticking. Which was my initial thought. On closer inspection it turned out to be the bearing. And not because of the noise. But because of the resistance. Even if i spun it fast. It made no obvious weird noises. Same when driving. Not sure if this is common on these bearings, but i thought it was rather peculiar.

I know what you guys are saying but I just believe prevention is better than cure and also I have to do a 200 mile motorway journey 3 times a week for work so in my case its prudent to replace before a big issue arises and  looking at videos the job in itself looks pretty straight forward the only issue I can see there being is obviously if the old bearings do not want to come off which is why I need to get the correct kit.

That kit is only usefull when you have access to the  bearing outer race. If you watch the video and look at what you get when you buy a front wheel bearing you will see why the Gen 2 tool is required and that kit will not work. Even the fitting/removal instructions in the linked advert show why it wont work.
