Paintwork blisters

Featured Replies

Has anyone had issues with blisters on the paintwork? I  gave my parents 67 plate citigo a quick wash off today and came across issues on the passenger side door and rear arch.

No idea - but have they owned it from brand new, and know it has never been repaired/touched up?

It could be a perforation, in which case, there may be a possible warranty claim.

Not sure of the full history, as it was purchased from a Skoda dealer about 2 years ago. The issue certainly seems to be from below the paint and limited to the 2 panels.

The issue will be corrosion almost certainly.

It looks like a rather poor paint job which will have had pathetic preparation.

What does the fuel filler flap area look like?

Paint / Corrosion warranties do not cover poorly carried out repair work.

If a car is in at a Main Dealership there should be a Body & Glass Inspection carried out and a report done on condition.

Only a Master Tech on the forum has said that is not part of the service and had that confirmed.

Also while Skoda UK put it on the Service & Maintenance web pages they then say that Inspections were not done when rejecting claims.

It's surprising how quick they have appeared, seems the cold, damp weather has accelerated the reaction. I've told them to get it looked at by the supplying dealer this week. Hopefully all will go well and get sorted.

Is that possible during lock down, or is the car not in an area like that?

They certainly will know from their sales sheets what they spent on car prep, & if they had the car painted by kerbside autos or their paint shop if they have one, or if they bought in and only did minimum prep for the sales.

They should be checking the paint thickness, and that should be the warranty manager doing that.

Unsure to what extent they are open, but had the usual reminders for servicing and mot at the Skoda garage.
