Need Help

Featured Replies

I went to start my 2006 Octavia Vrs and had the clicking noise, I've put a brand new battery on it and now it won't start. The ESP and the yellow steering wheel lights stay on. The car wants to start but the steering wheel light turns red. I've tried plugging in my code reader but it says it can't connect to my car (never had any issues with it connecting before). Please can anyone help. After about 10 seconds of turning the ignition on the fan kicks in for some reason

Assuming the new battery is charged try a total electrical reset by disconnecting the battery, turn ignition on for 5 minutes during which time activate main beam flash/horn/hazard lights etc. to deplete any residual charge somewhere.

Turn ignition off,  reconnect and retry.

Thank you for the advice. I'll have a go tomorrow.

The reasoning is that trying to start the engine with a flat battery browns out the power to the electronics which in turn get corrupted.

In my experience simply replacing the battery without totally discharging the electronics will give mixed results.

Check fuses also.

The steering wheel icon and perhaps ESP icon will still be lit until you have driven a few hundred yards..

You will also need the reset the limit position for the one-touch part of the electric windows (see your drivers handbook) and the time on the clock.

You will have lost all data relating to long term mpg, trip data etc as they will have been reset to zero.
