Karoq Dash Cam Installation

Featured Replies

Hi All,  this is my first post.

I recently bought a new Karoq SE L 1.5 DSG  in September 20 for my retirement. I was given a dash cam as a retirement present from my family which I want to install.

I have watched some ‘YouTube’’ clips on installation in various vehicles but not on a Skoda.  Has anyone got any advice on this (e.g. online video’s etc). as I understand Internal linings have to be removed to hide cables?

Also by self installation would this affect my Guarantee in any way?

Any advice on this would be appreciated

kind Regards

Padraig

Apparently the side trims up the windscreen are near impossible to remove without damage, and you need to be very careful not to set off the airbag whilst installing the cable. Once installed the route of the cable must not restrict the airbag from deploying. Running a cable for a rear camera is even more difficult, and potentially untidy.

If you are not confident you can do it, this might be better done by an expert.

Thanks for the info.  Issues given that I hadn’t considered

And.......

Does yours have the new USB socket near the rear view mirror (Model year 2021)? Saves all the wiring to the fuse box.

Just search on here for the great tutorial  someone's posted and follow that.

That's an option costing about £200

Reading about dashcam installs, in retrospect I should have probably included it in my order but it's too late now.

Maybe worth adding this to a tips&tricks sticky for people looking to order.
