no sound from swapped radio

Featured Replies

Well it seemed like  a good idea at the time. Take the working columbus radio out from the wife's 2012 Octavia, put it into my 2013 Superb. What could be simpler.

The idea was that it would solve the issue I had with the unit not working when the ambient temperature was above 24C, which happens for most of the summer here.

The wife's radio fitted fine, the proximity sensors beeped and the little car image told me which sensor was activated. Only problem, no media or maps as I needed the radio code. Tried the local dealer, no joy. Got a the radio code from eBay. the unit works all the buttons function, my iPod plugs in all good. Except no sound was coming out of the speakers!

Checking through the functions, the sound balance now only has a single horizontal bar with left and right. I no longer have the image of the four seats and the ability to move the balance around the cabin. :speechless:

I checked before I swapped the radio over, there was definitely the four seats image while it was in the original car, but now it has gone, along with the sound. Any ideas about how to get the radio to work in my Superb?

To @gullible - I change my sound unit and the new one have no sound at all. Disconnect the car battery for about 30 Minutes and when connect back the sound is now working great :) I am not sure if the situation is the same but You do not lose nothing :)

@tuningmania awesome tip thank you.

I thought it a bit unlikely that the standard power down, wait, power up would work, but it did. I didn't even have to re-enter the radio code :biggrin:

I am sure there are a number of members here shaking their heads as I probably should have disconnected the battery before I swapped radios...
