Suberb Style 150bhp -anything a must to order ?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New company car due to be ordered - settled on a 150 combi style -but is there anything you guys would say is a must order over and above the basic style spec?

Oh and Its a manual - cant get them to change that there is €3000 extra for dsg  that they wont pay for -all the fleet is manual .

Any input is welcomed

thanks in advance

Welcome to Briskoda my used 150ps diesel came with a host of nice options but if your company are limiting you to a couple I would pick Virtual Dash and Reversing Camera both very useful. I have blind spot monitors, Canton sound, electric tailgate, heated front seats, KESSY, spare wheel to name a few all nice if someone else’s paid for them but DSG and Virtual Dash are my favourite 2 options.

Thank you very much.. Was Def thinking virtual dash but the dsg is not an option unfortunately. I'm wondering how acc would work with a manual gearbox.. I've a dsg at the min and it's a gift

ACC works well with a manual gearbox, you just don't get the full benefits. It will almost follow to stop, you just need to change down as you slow and it will not go to a stop.

Other than that and changing gear it works the same. I have the same issue with manual and DSG in that when pulling out to overtake on a  motorway the pick up is quite slow if you have lost speed, even in sport the DSG accelerates quite slowly, it also seems to pause before picking up speed. I find in both the manual and DSG I need to push the accelerator to get the car to move.

ACC with manual gearbox works better than you might imagine (better than I imagined anyway).  Works well on motorways if traffic keeps moving because it doesn't disengage just because you change gear.  If you change down it disengage briefly while changing but then re-engages.

Also.. If the ACC is doesn't pick up again to accelerate straight away after slowing then I find a quick backwards flick of the ACC  lever kick starts it to accelerate again.

Not sure where you are located, but if you can pick two options will depend on where you are.  Is the 150 the 1.5tsi or a diesel

Virtual dash is nice gimmick, but if you have had many cars with normal speedometer, what you have never had you won’t miss

If you drive in a city, with heavy traffic, you will curse returning to a manual gearbox (and not sure why it is about 3 times normal price, unless you need to change spec to get it).  Unless having a class A driving license is a condition of employment, since the Equality Act (disability Act) not normally able to insist on excluding anyone with an Auto only license.

ACC useful on motorways and main roads, not worth it if you drive mainly on country roads

Kessy comes in 2 forms, the basic one isn’t that helpful compared to a remote key

Heated screen can be useful if your home doesn’t have decent garage, and you park it outside in frosty weather

Rear Camera is helpful if park in tight spaces, but pointless if you have in and out drive (so rarely reverse) and big parking spaces at work

Great to know cos 2 dealers I went to hadn't a clue. I have a dsg now and I changed the acc settings from normal to sport and it made a big difference on Lane changes.. It kicks down now on indicator signal rather than just slowly moves out.

You do seem to lose a few things in Ireland, I just compared the Irish style spec to UKs equivalent spec (SEL), so maybe forget what I said as some options like variable boot floor might be more practical

Thanks SurreyJohn,

Huge difference in standard spec style model (SEL+) in the UK and Ireland. My current sportline I bought in Wales was way ahead of the same standard here and €12k cheaper including import costs
