Predictive Cruise Control not available in your country

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I bought a Karoq at the beginning of 2021, in the manual it is specified that from November 2020 the adaptive cruise control becomes predictive cruise control, so it should slow down if you see a curve via GPS or if there is a speed limit reported. I also have the camera for the recognition of road signs, which in fact are shown on the display.
In the menu I see the two items (route prediction, allowed speed prediction), but if I activate the cruise control it tells me that the Provisional Adjustment is not available in my country (I don't know how it is translated into English because my menu is in Italian) .
I have found many Italian users with the same problem on Karoq.
The Italian assistance says to some that it will verify, to others that there is no PCC (which is not true, otherwise it would not be written in the manual and we would not have those menu items).
Do any of you have a recent model (late 2020/2021) with a working PCC? or does anyone have the same problem?

I live in Sweden and I have a Karoq that was built in week 51 of 2020 and it has PCC... and after a few weeks of trying to drive with it, I had to turn it off.

Here are the reasons:

- When the car approaches a roundabout, then it lowers its speed way too much and goes really slow around it.

- It uses speed limit data from the camera above the mirror with conjunction of preloaded data for the segments of the public road network with specific speed limit (GPC + preloaded data), so sometimes you get wrong readings or the preloaded data is wrong (no idea why, since the data is publicly available in Sweden and compiled from the traffic agency and always accurate), so your car might speed up to 110 km/h when the actual speed limit is 90 km/h or the other way around - slow down way too much.

- Going in a corner is also problematic, the car is very very pessimistic and slows down way too much. The moment when I finally decided I am turning off the PCC and I am just going by normal ACC and Travel assist was when I was exiting a highway with a slight turn onto a B-road and then at the end of the turn I switched on the PCC with a preset speed of 70 km/h and then the car decided to break heavily to around 50km/h because it thought I was still turning in the corner (when in reality I have just exited it). The speed limit of the turn was 60km/h and the car slowed down way less than this (~50km/h). I know I was speeding a bit, but please don't judge me way too hard.

All these events occurred in the winter months. The traffic sign recognition did not work when there was a ton of snow, so may be it just read the speed limit signs in my area wrongly and carried the information with it and later used it when the weather got better and I started using PCC more. Or may be the system is just bad and needs more development / updates. Idk what the reason is, but the fact is that I have turned it off and I feel better without it :D

I still have traffic sign recognition turned on, but it is just displayed in the VC as a piece of information for the driver. May be the car will "learn" what the correct speed limits are or how fast it can go on a roundabout after a while and I can try again in a few months - you never know 🤷‍♂️.

Anyway, don't feel like you have missed some ground breaking innovation, but I understand your curiosity :)

The manual and menus won't be country specific.

I expect the map data is missing for Italy which is causing the issue. It might work if you were to drive into France or another country :)

thanks,

my car was shipped with Maps version: ECE 20/3, now is 21/3 (or something like). The update is "over the air" since there is no more SD Card Drive...

if that's really the problem, I hope Skoda will do it as soon as possible...what I don't understand is why there is a user, also in Italy, who has Oktavia, on which it works.

As far as I know maps are the same on VW group, isn't so?

UPDATE: The official assistance of Skoda Italia told the dealer to come back after the summer to see if by chance an update came out that could solve the problem...
it seems absurd to me that 6 months after the commercialization of the predictive cruise control, which works on other models also in Italy, they still do not have a solution...
