Reading media files from USB-stick?

Featured Replies

I have a Superb 2021 (L&K) with Bolero.

I also using my USB A to access my microSD card (plugged into a microSD to USB A adapter).

Usually when switch the engine off and get back to the, the the multimedya continues to play the song last played before the engine was switched off.

Occasionally, when I switch the car on, I see a message that the USB is being read and my MP3 files are placed from the beginning.

Did any one had experienced losing the last track/mp3 file played and how was it worked around?

any info will be appreciated.

Finally: Last monday, my Octavia IV had a software update. And now the media-player works flawlessly - for the first time, since i bought the car 1/2 a year ago. And as a bonus, I now allso have wireless Android Auto 🙂
Details about the update:

I have just changed my 2013 Superb for a newer 2022 model. My previous model had an SD card slot  and I used it for storing MP 3 music. I created a Misic directory and created a sub directory for eack "album". This worked fine and I was able to select each album. I never manage to get the Shuffle play to work across all of the sub directories and so I created  sub directory called "All Tracks" and copied into it all of the other tracks of all of the subdirectories (I had a 32gb SD card so space was no problem) -

The new Superb has no SD card slot (not even for the sat nav maps - that will be another search on the forum to find out how to update the maps) but does have USB ports - USB type A under the arm rest and a type C in front of the gear change by the 12v socket. Both support data exchange as well as charging

I tried putting the SD card into a USB stick  adptor and that did not work. I tried everything - different, USB sticks, different formatting (FAT, FAT 32 etc,), different music formats (MP3, AAC, WAV), tracks in a "Music" folder, tracks not in a Music folder - None of which worked.

I then spent over half anhour having an online Chat with Skoda. Whilst the guy did all he could to be helpful he eventually advised me to call Skoda on a UK number and ask them.

At the this stage I was beginning to think I'd have to rely on my phone (I had already succeeded in playing music from my phone either via bluetooth or Smartlink.)

But I now seem to have found the trick (there are a number of theads on this matter but I haven't found the solution in them)

In checking my USB stick stock (some that I have acquired without checking the ontent) I found one stick (FAT formatted) that had a folder for each album (in MP3 format) direcly on the root directory (ie not as sub folder under a Music folder). Also in the root directory of the stick was a folder named "AUDIO". In an act of desperation I copied some MP3 tracks into the AUDIO Folder and tried the USB stick in the car

Success at last. The tracks in the AUDIO folder appeared (but not the tracks in the other folders) on the infotainment system (not sure which one I have - The online manual - that you get  by entering your VIN)  that you have to use for the infotainment system does not give it a name  Amundsen or Bolero)

I have now got as far as trying to put MP3 tracks and Sub a folders of album tracks in the AUDIO folder and the infotainment seems to a display all tracks (including those in the sub folder) in one track list

I've still some investigating to do but I can now certainly have all my tracks available permanently on the infotainment systm without having to rely on my phone
