  1. Does anyone have longtime experience with just ignoring the DSG gear selector fault? The one, where a yellow light comes on, and the text says something like (in my translation from Danish): "Fault in gear selector. You can continue driving, but should consult your workshop". Judged from this forum, and a Danish forum I participate in, this fault is quite common. For me, it started about 4-5 months ago, when the car was about 2½ years old. The error-light comes on 1-3 times in a row, when the car is started. Then it disappears, usually for several weeks. Then it might come on again for 1-3 times - etc., etc. I went to the workshop, where I was confirmed that this was acknowledged by Skoda as a common error. Therefore I was offered a discount on the spare part. But changing it is apparently complicated, and the workshop will charge me 8.500 DKR / 1.100 € to do that. Now I wonder what will happen if I just keep ignoring it........
  2. Have you ever experienced that your iV won't charge, but the red error light flashes when you plug it in? I first had this problem when the car was about ½ year old. The failure was intermittent but gradually got worse. I made a complaint to my Skoda dealer, who changed the charging plug in the car. It didn't help much though. Then I complained to the company which has delivered the charging box. They sent a technician who could not measure any fault on the box. Anyway, I managed to persuade him to change the cable and plug on the box - and that helped. Now the problem has come back after approx. 1½ years. It seems like its something mechanical - there is a series of clicks, as if the a lock is trying to engage but then gives up. And if I squeeze hard downwards on the plug I can sometimes get it to work. When I'm using a public charging station, with the cable that came with the car, there are no problems. All in all, this leads me to conclude that the problem is with the charging box - probably the plug from the box - and not with the car. But before I call the company that has delivered the box and makes a (serious) complaint, I just want to be sure that this is not a known issue, related to the iV 😉 charge error.mp4
  3. Well - I've been driving a manual gearbox for 20+ years, and never missed an automatic. Now I can't imagine life without it...... I've also driven 20+ years without ACC. Now I can't imagine life without it. And I've been driving 20+ years without even knowing the existence of Auto Hold........... Well, you can guess the rest 😎

  6. Me too. But that is what Auto Hold is for: when approaching a red light, you press the brake - and lift you foot. The car is at standstill. When light turns green, you press the throttle, and on you go. No need to touch the gear selector - and even less the handbrake. But I agree: to each his own 🙂

  9. According to the manual: "Stopping temporarily (e.g. at a junction): Leave the selected mode D/S and secure the vehicle with the brake pedal. (Also se autohold below) Stopping: Keep the brake pedal depressed. Secure the vehicle with the parking brake. Choose the P mode. Turn off the engine. NB: When turning off the engine in mode D, S or R then mode P is automatically selected. Autohold: With Stop, the vehicle is automatically secured using Auto Hold. Auto Hold lights up in the instrument cluster. The brake pedal can be released. With Start, the vehicle is automatically released using Auto Hold." Seems simple enough. No need to complicate it. If following the manual would actually damage the car, I guess Skoda would be looking into some serious legal trouble.......   10. A harddrive would be a bit old-fashioned and unpractical by today's standard 😉 But I would have liked an SD-card reader hidden in the glove compartment, like my Fabia had. Instead, I'm using a USB-stick - I just bought the (physically) smallest one I could find, and it now permanently occupies one of the two USB-C ports. However, I must admit that I don't use it much. Spotify and Android Auto is just so much more convenient. Even though the audio quality is marginally better from the USB stick.
  11. Well, its easy to operate, does what it should, and its sturdy enough. I like it - and I like the design. Yes, its plastic. Metal would have been nice. The same could be said about other details within the otherwise rather good looking (at least to me) cabin. But in the end, its probably a question of price point and place in the market. If the gear selector is a definite showstopper, you could always go for an Audi A3. Its pricier (and smaller), but I'm sure the gear selector is nice 🙂

My wife and I have the same phone, with the same AA version, and she got the update several days before me - how unfair......... 😉 I think the changes are more evolutionary than revolutionary, since we already had the split screen, which is the big new thing for most others. The biggest improvement for me is the ability to expand Google Maps to full screen. But there are also numerous minor improvements, making AA an overall more polished experience. For those who want to know more about the details, try googling Coolwalk UI Anyway, the new version just confirms even more, how superior AA is to Skodas own navigation - sadly......

  14. OK, I see your problem then. There seems to be quite a lot of confusion about updates 😞 All I can say is, that mine didn't support wireless AA from start - but after a major update (at the dealer) it does. So at least in some instances, it is possible.
  15. I actually find Skoda Connect quite useful, as long as it works. With the app I'm able to check the status of the car (battery charge and gasoline level, locked/unlocked, etc), remotely lock it, set it to charge (or programme it to charge at a night), control the heating/airconditioning (or programme it to start heating at a specifik time every morning), etc., etc. The problem is of course, when it stops working - as it typically does with 2-3 months interval. It seems to have something to do with the cars internet-connection getting f*cked up. The "solution" is to remove fuse 19 for a few minutes. However, this is not only cumbersome, it also means that I'm loosing all the driving data for the period since I last saved them. Skoda definitely needs to work on this.
